Hello All,

I'm the new Albacore Captain at West Kirby and this is my first post!

The WKSC Albacore Open this year on 18th/19th July will be run in tandem with our Open Dinghy Coastal Championship. This is a new event for 2015 which is basically a handicap dinghy regatta with separate starts where fleet sizes warrant it.

The Albacores will have our own start probably on a separate course which we may share with another suitable fleet. I understand the RO will be Chris Hoppins who ran our Open last year and also the Abersoch Nationals. So the racing will be as good as ever but with a lot more boats on the estuary the après sail should be even livelier than usual!

In the bar last night Mike Hartley whilst still sober floated the idea of a separate little series on our lake which would be Saturday afternoon (we'll be ashore 2 ish) and Sunday morning as we won't be going out on the tide until about Noon. None of it will count for the Open so just a separate prize and a bit of fun really. Or would people prefer to start on the beer early on Saturday and have a lie in on Sunday morning? Or see what the weather does I guess - no stress either way but would be interested to hear your views.

Just a quick update on the West Kirby Open on 18th & 19th July.
Briefing will be at 1100 on Saturday with first of three races on the tide to start not before 1145.
On Sunday there will be a race on our lake at 1030 followed by another three races on the tide. Lake and tide virtually share a slipway so very easy to move boats from one to the other.
So a seven race series with six on the sea for the last Open before the Nationals.
Can you afford to miss it?!

About 15Kts forecast for the whole weekend at the moment - from the West which is a great direction for WK.
We look forward to seeing you again. It sounds like there are quite a few coming.

BBQ is free to visitors but you have to buy your own beer I'm afraid!

Confirmation of timings for Saturday morning are as follows;

Breakfast available from 0845
Registration 0930-1030
Briefing 1030
Start of Race 1 1115

On Sunday morning we have a race on the lake starting at 1030. Then first start on the tide at 1200.
As ever timings are approximate.

Latest forecast is giving plenty of breeze all weekend but not as wild as it was shaping up to be!
