If not why not use up what you have left by towing your boat to South Cerney next weekend (3/4 May) for the Inland Champs?

Last time we held the Inlands at South Cerney there were over 50 boats. OK it was a long time ago, but hey, why not try again? We're currently shaping up for about 25 boats which is in itself fantastic, so why not come and join in the fun?

There's plenty of accommodation locally, there will be a few people in camper vans, and a few brave souls have already told us they want to sleep in tents!

See details of the Club (including how to get there) plus NOR at www.southcerneysailingclub.org.uk.

See you on Saturday......

Fantastic turnout for a brilliant event over the weekend (even if the weather didn't quite live up to expectation!).

Pictures of the event (including some video) are available at: picasaweb.google.com/andysturla/AlbacoreOpen02.

The race report is already posted on Yachts and Yachting.

Thanks once again to everyone who showed up!

Hi Paul

Yes, we will be there on the Friday night. Depending on what time of course! We will be camping over with some others. The gate will probably be shut/locked at dusk or thereabouts, so if you could let us know what time you anticipate arriving, it would be good. As long as it's not too late, we can open up for you.

Cheers

Jean

It might be a horrible week weather wise with all those big storms around, but have you seen the weekend weather?

Metcheck currently predicts sun, no rain with wind between 7 & 11 mph for both Saturday and Sunday.

The perfect opportunity to race against a load of other Albs and sink a few beers in the evening sunshine....

Recon we'll end up with about 5 or 6 tents - as long as the barrell doesn't run out too soon we'll be OK! Loos/changing rooms will be open overnight, so if it gets really bad......

Aunty Pam is sorting a scrummy meal for the Sat night, and for anyone turning up on Friday night, we'll probably send out for F&Cs.

Our boat is 2 months younger than Monarch, so a youngster!

see you all Friday or Sat.

Phil - Can't fault the enthusiasm - just the sanity!

Andy - Look forward to seeing you. Hope I don't let you down!

Dermod - Yes Monarch is the first Woof prototype and belonged to the Glens. Dan stopped sailing in the early '80's when Alistair and Duncan started to sail the boat. I bought it from Al in '86 & have had her ever since. And she's still pretty quick!

Hi Norman,

We have in fact a 5 star tent so i'm looking forward to the weekend. We do have a heater and even air conditioning in the form of a zip! It's just a case of whether we bring the hanging baskets or not!

See you Saturday!

Hello Norman,

Is Monarch Dan Glen's old boat. A Woof if I remember correctly and very fast!

Unfortunately we will be without boat (varnishing issues) but my wife and I may turn up at South Cerney in our Campervan to meet class members and their boats and perhaps we may get a chance to talk to some people about Albacore History.

Regards

Phil,

I really don't understand this camping stuff - surely its too cold, not to mention the lack of comfort!

Anyway, you should be able to set up near the Club house.

There will be people there on Friday evening, not least Ruth. She asked me to put you in touch, so I've sent you details via private messenger.

Look forward to seeing you on Saturday (but I bet I get more sleep than you do!)

Sorry I couldn't make it at the weekend. The boat and car were loaded but other events took over and I had to make the decision to abandon. Will try to make the next southern event if I can,
