I've left notification of this event as late as possible because it clashes with the start of Largs and I didn't want to responsible for any watering down of attendence at Largs. So this targeted very much at members with older Albacores, who have definitely decided not to attend Largs and are based in the South East.

The Thames Sailing Club has it Clasic and Vintage Regatta on the weekend of the 18th/19th July. We are trying to build this event over a number of years into a high profile spectator event that raises the profile of boat classes that have been losing out to the trend towards assymetric designs. 'Why on the Thames?' you might ask. The reasoning is that, while river racing may not be to everyone's taste, the public get so close they can see the white's of the competitors eyes. So, even if its not your prefered sailing environment, please consider attending to fly the flag for older Albacores.

Incidentally, pot hunters amongst you may be interested to know that Martin Haywood from Maidenhead won the vintage title in an Albacore last year. The event is run as part of the CVRDA championship. For all the details please see www.thamessailingclub.co.uk and click on the Vintage & Open banner

Hope some of you can make BUT ONLY IF YOU WERE NEVER GOING TO LARGS!!!
