Hi All,

Can anyone advise me please on who is capable of doing a first class repair to cold moulded hulls? I have a varnished Knight & Pink which was hit during racing today (his fault!!), putting a 100mm gash in the starboard hull about 300mm aft of the stem and just above the join of the bow tank. As far as I can see, there is no damage to the join on the tank.

Having spent most of May this year completely stripping and revarnishing the hull, the boat is in excellent condition, so I am a lttle unhappy to say the least!

I am based in Thirsk and sail at Ripon SC ( a lonely racing Alb, although there are 2 others there) so any suggestions gratefully received!

I am prepared to travel to get a proper repair if there is no-one local who can do a proper job. Photos available on request to pass on to anyone you know who can help.

Give Nigel Potter a ring, a

nice guy and albacore specialist. I met him in largs and his boat is awesome.

Many thanks, will do. I know he does great paint jobs, but didn't know he did repairs, so that's a good start.

Many thanks to all of you for the contacts and advice as well as the rapid response. As of today, my insurers, Noble Marine, have instructed me to take the boat to Derek Jolly in Chorley. Derek did some renovation work on my Chippendale Fifteen some years ago, so I know he's good, but I thought he'd retired! (he has, but still does insurance work, apparently). Hence my search for someone else.

Hopefully I'll be back on the water before too long. Derek informs me he is just finishing some work on a Woof Albacore, so if it belongs to any of you, let me know how you get on! Graham58932009-08-17 22:12:13

Derek is the builder of choice for us Albacore owners in Lancshire and he is good. Glad to hear he is still in business.

Apparently he knows most of the Scaling Dam Albs pretty well too! Must pop up there sometime and have a look at the rig layouts as I'm gradually updating my controls.
