Hi

Just noticed a typo on the Alb rules on the front or first page - 'an national class' should read 'a national class'

thanks

Perhaps a more serious typo (I really hope it IS a typo!):

Section C8.3 Rudder dimensions now states that the maximum distance of the fully lowered rudder from the hull datum point is 550mm. Under section 8 of the old rules, 550mm is the MINIMUM.

Either we all need new rudders or this needs correcting ASAP.

Just found another couple of typos - well what else can you do on a cold wet Sunday afternoon...?

Section D Drain port distance from outside of shell should be minimum 25mm not maximum. Same for drain port closing device - minimum of 15mm not maximum

If a tiller extension is a "fitting" then there is no change (see current rule 14.8).

The question is: Is a tiller extension a fitting or not?

Not sure how you describe a tiller extension, it's not a fitting in my book, but a tiller extension. Fittings are the small items e.g cleats & blocks etc?

Item E 4.4

(d) The tiller extension materials are optional.

What do you think?

if its not a fitting what is it? I would contend that under the rather liberal interpretation applied by the Enterprises the jib stick is also a fitting. It is refered to im my rules ( NOT current) as a "Headsail pole" I believe that the IYRU decided that jibsticks were spars but that was before it became the ISAF and before aysemetrics and setting on the same side as the main . The goal posts may have moved. Do we need

clarification. As for c/f tiller extensions at that price for 2 or 3 ounces that busts you can keep em

What I should have said in my last post was that , having been involved in reformat and new rules before, I apprecieate the ammount of hard thankless work someone has done on our behalf. Thank you who ever did it.New bits tend to slip under the radar when these things get done.My present copy of the rules is dated 2003 so may be slightly out of date.
