We done to Neville Herbert with Mark Fowler and Will Guliver and Wendy Pickstock who took the Team prize in the Battle of the Classes Race at the ExCeL London Boat Show today.

Nev and Mark took second place overall closely behind Steve Cockerill in his Graduate, Will and Wendy finished 9th.

Really good effort from both boats - congratulations!

Jerry we talked of doing the Steamer at Starcross, but are signed on to do the Steve Nicholson at Northampton SC Sat 30th Jan, sailing every weekend this time of year is extreme.

Good result from both boats at Excel, Nev & I were a couple of boat lengths behind steve Cockerill in the Graduate when the finish gun went.FOWLER2010-01-18 10:08:59

Nice to see "traditional" classes doing well. I'm not sure how representative this event is, but clearly two-man, no spinnaker boats benefited this year.

A close finish too. Graduates don't win many high profile events these days, but well done Steve.

good for both the boats, shame that technically 7143's sails don't measure. Only a technical point but look at the logo on the main and the ISAF measurement rules.

Don't measure, ie the wrong size, or incorrect logo, there is a difference.

We've had a couple of previous comments on the Alb insignia, I left it to Lewi, my 9yrs old to sort out??

I've now removed the insignia from the portside & fixed a replacement below the starboard insignia.

Are they now in class?

Mark thats OK, I was being a bit pedantic and it certainly doesn't detract from your excellent results.

However, Phil, if any part of a sail doesn't comply with the ISAF rules then the sail doesn't measure, even though it may be totally the right size. As a measurer I know that people look on logos and sail numbers as minor and fairly unimportant points but the fact remains that if there is a measurement requirement that isn't met then that sail could be protested as an illegal sail and any protest committee would be forced to declare any results from using the sail as null and void.

Another can of worms
