Who do I contact regards getting a price for a new Albacore, Ovington dont list the Alb on their website and Speeds dont do Albs now, also how many new Albs are being built this year, whats happening to the boats they are replacing? It would seem to me to be beneficial to the class to update the website on the availability of new boats.

That is a wooden decked boat though correct? The all grp boat shouldn't be anything like that....

I am in the process of final costings during the course of this week, however the likely out come subject to your required specifiation on rig & fittings will require you to budget Ł11,500.



This package is the Selden Cumulus/Hyde Powermax rig, combi trailer over & under covers.



This boat will be the sister ship to the one for myself & Neville Herbert.

I noted yesterday that the pictures of the new boat have disapeared from the Class website?


I also noted that the links are still to Speed sails and that Ovington Boats are not listed as a builder.


We are in the process of updating the website over the next couple of months. We will be offering a fitted out option but not until our next production run which will be in November.


Three boats are due to leave for Canada in a week or so, then we are into a run of six boats for UK customers.


We are planning another run of boats around October/November depending on numbers, so far one slot has been filled with several more interested.


The production run in the autumn would be the best time to get your hull ready for the 2011 season.

We were caught out this year with delivery due to the 29er Youth Worlds shipping date moving, we are now on top of that and I apologise to all of those who are currently expecting boats.

If you are after a new hull then you will need to email I suggest Chris Turner direct at Ovington.



I can offer you a ready to sail, epoxy & varnish spray bake finished, timber decked Ovington hull in November if this may be of interest to you?

Thanks for your help guys the P&B price sounds good for a new boat very compettitive with other classes, It would be good to try and get some new blood in to the class. Good s/h boats are like hens teeth, There musst be other people like me , who have tried the Manufacturers Assymetric classes and realise they just dont work on restricted waters, I have 2 wooden boats to restore then may well sell and go for a new Ovi. Hope to see some of you at our open meetimg at Broadwater on the 16th Oct,
