Can any one tell me what glue was used on the later Youngs which were built on the Woof mould? Were they built with Epoxy and were the hot or cold moulded?

Any information about their good and bad points would be appreciated.

Hi Dom,

The later
Young's were all built with epoxy, and of course cold moulded. The only
hot moulded Alb hulls were produced by Fairey's up until the mid 1970s.
After that the licensed builder made their own plugs and the whole debate of
which hull was best started.

Good points and bad points, well that depends on who you speak to of course,
but from my point of view, the original Youngs were quick upwind and less so
reaching. The Woofs were good all round and the Kingsfields, well we all
know they are blisteringly quick off wind.

I hope that helps and may start some further debate.

Best Wishes,

Rob Young

Thanks Rob and thats very interesting to know.So I guess that means that the later Youngs should have greater longevity than any other Albacores being as they were buillt with epoxy.

And when you say later Youngs, what numbers would they start from?
