Kingsfield 7175 for Sale

7175 Eleanor built in 1983, Kingsfield professionally bumped back into class with new dispensation for hull thickness, measurered by Don O’Donnell and still a very fast boat. Twice runner up at UK Nationals sailed by Dave Sinnock from Herne Bay, regular race winning boat and usual suspect in the top ten overall, results from 1983 – 1994 2,6,8,5,2,3,14,6,38.20.6,7. Not been sailed for several years dry stored unfortunately has not been maintained to the highest standard but I have put four coats of international varnish on the tanks and decks to allow the boat to be sailed straight away. Eleanor is the sister ship of my main boat (7176 Katsie Weightsie) my “fleet” has grown and so “Eleanor is for sale”. Also included combination road trailer/launching trolley; boat covers; adjustable rig: fly away pole. Hope this boat is at the Nationals. There are pictures on the for sale section and I can send others if required.

£ 4,500.00 now £3,000

Hi All just looking at the pics of Eleanor, surely she is out of class, just look at the transom !! A transom shall be fitted, the top of which shall form a continuous curve
below the level of the sheerline. Alternatively a tiller port may be fitted.

How come this escaped the measurer?

Well spotted. This boat was one of the kingsfields that did not conform to the rules during the "Kingsfield" debate, the hull was out by around 14mm at one station and slightly less at others. When it was measured it had "lifetime" dispensation from the RYA and along with my other boat 7176 fell into a category that caused the NAA a real problem. I did not own either boat at the time. As neither owner wanted to bump their boats into class, we the NAA reached a point where our hands were tied. After a time lapse I bought 7176 and immediately bumped the offending area and the RYA re-measured the boat, done by Don O'Donnel. The RYA granted dispensation for Hull thickness. In the case of 7175 (Elenor) it too had to change hands before being bumped, the new owner was given dispensation and agreed with the RYA as long as the hull thickness was sorted to bring the hull back into class all other items would remain covered by the original dispensation. The new owner agreed to this had the boat "bumped" and re-measured by Don O'Donnell. Thus bringing an end to the "Kingsfield" nightmare. I can assure you that this "short" explanation goes no where to explain the effort that the then NAA Committee (indeed the whole Class) went through. Safe to say it almost killed the Class.
