Perhaps someone could copy and paste on to the forum. It would be nice to see how it is going, even though we can't be there.

Well done to Barney & Dave (again!)They sailed very fast and sensibly.
There were a few sad stories in the UK camp though- Judy & Paul had to go home for a family bereavement, Rob Lyne seriously damaged his knee ligaments and Mike Mac had an unjust black flag due to a mis-identifaction for a race he won.

Jeremy is right - the sailing was most impressive as watched from Maestro, the Committee boat - the Albacores proved to be great sea boats in the most trying conditions on some days.
We helped Paul and Judy to pack up and load their boat, and waved them goodbye from the beach, and it was very sad.
Michael was right to be aggrieved by the black flag decision, but it was most difficult to see the numbers of those over the line; I was not able to record any numbers myself - I suspect probably more than three or four boats were over the line really , but the numbers actually recorded by PRO Chris Hoppins were confirmed from the support boat he had stationed at the pin end. I think that the crews of the two or three red ribs were possibly not very experienced, and they may have been mistaken. I thought at the time we should have had a general recall, but upon enquiry I was told that this is not allowable under black flag; possibly a debateable point.
I was however very impressed by Chris Hoppins as the PRO; he worked extremely hard all week to set a good courses, not easy with such changeable wind directions, and on Friday we had to change position and re-anchor three times before he could actually set a course - not an easy task with a faulty winch. I did learn a lot by the experience however, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole week.
We did not hear about Rob's misfortune at the time, but wish him a speedy recovery.
Abersoch is a really lovely place to sail/race, and overall we though it was a very successful week, most ably organised and managed by the NAA Committee, and SCYC to whom we say a big thank you.
'Magical' did better than we had hoped, crewed by our friends from Canada, and coming in at 10th place. She has now changed owners to Barry Wicks who will race her at Maidenhead, and at open meetings.
We are sad to part with her, but wish him well with her in his safe hands.
Rosie was thrilled with her first dinghy racing experience in Albs. and our thanks go to Dave for taking such good care of her all week - he's not as 'dangerous' as his boat name suggests.
Finally thanks to all of you for providing such a good week, and it was really good to meet up with our friends of old from Tewkesbury, where we spent twenty-five years of happy sailing and racing.

One thing we should consider for the future is the use of International code flag "U"(or similar) as a non-cumulative Black flag - it has been tried out by other classes & clubs.
The basic difference between it and a Black flag is that if there is a general recall after a "U"start then any of the boats caught over the line in the minute before the start are let off. If there is a general recall at a Black flag start it means there are a lot of unidentifed premature starters and it is hard to penalise the few who are caught.
If there is no general recall after a "U" start then those identified are Black-flagged for that race.
