We had our first meeting of the 2015 Albacore Internationals organizing committee last Wednesday evening. This meeting comprised a wide ranging discussion regarding the event in general and was without an agenda but we did have a list of talking points. During this meeting we bantered about many ideas and reviewed past events. The discussion of entry fee versus number of meals and services provided was very productive. We took notes. The intent was to get us all thinking and to begin scoping out what needs to be done. Everyone there has both participated and organized many similar events in the past - so we had a wealth of experience represented in the room. NEXT meeting will be in a month's time - or maybe during North Americans - and I expect we will have an agenda and will result in at least some assignments.

I would like to add my name to the list of those wanting to go to the sunshine in Florida in 2015. Its so gloomy here & whilst I was typing this the first time the power went off due to the electricity men making good their temporary repair from Sunday's storm

Defnintely coming to Shetland and Florida. So I'm told.

Finally we have a bank account to use.
The arrangements will be as follows:
Payments over 12 months from now until October 2014.
Initial deposit of £150 then £75 per month from January 2014 to October 2014.
That gets us to £900 per participant. If you fall behind by a month your place may be sold on to someone else.
Initial container quotes show that his is the right place to be.
I am aiming for a minimum of 8 boats in a 40ft container. We can increase to 10 in a 45 ft but then it will be a tight squeeze for all the rest of the equipment we want to take.
If there is sufficient interest we then go to 2 containers - there is some noise from the Scottish fleet so that could work.
To be viable the minimum per container would be 7 boats and I think from the interest we are actually already at that number.

So the rest of you are battling for the remaining max 6 places in container #1.
It really is first come first served. If you miss out you will be sweating on there being enough for the second container - and may end up having to tow to Scotland to load (nothing against Scotland!!)
