Derek's funeral was today in his boyhood town of Anstruther in Fife, the church was packed full and the service was full of the determination and humour that we all remember him for.
Ron James and myself represented the class and were both very honoured when asked to help carry him to the grave side. The class flag which was presented to Derek a few years ago was draped over the coffin and signified what a huge part of his life Albacores were, this was then removed and replaced with the code seven pennant which he took with him.

A very moving memory of a man we will not easily forget.

Have a safe voyage mate.

Thank you Crawford & Ron for representing us.
Derek did a lot for the class and Katie and his family bravely kept him going- I did not realise how ill he was at Abersoch
