Hi all. My name is Phil and i have recently purchased a very nice all wooden Youngs albacore. Very little information was available with the boat so i am interested in finding out a little about it.

The number is 6069 and was constructed by young's, the mast and boom are by Proctor with the gold anodising. I have relaced the mast and boom now with a superspars version i got from a project boat in nottingham as I am setting the boat up for club racing a Ogston SC. I am interested in any info that people may have such as its name, date of manufacture and whether it has a measurement certificate etc.

Any information would be appriciated. Cheers :cheer:

Hi Phil,
The official class records are kept by RYA Technical Dept, so if you did not get a Measurement Certificate with the boat that is the place to write to.
The address is on this site Technical page and I think will cost about £25.00 this Certificate will hold the info you are looking for.
For the additional sum of £15 you could join this association and I will send you some of the tuning stuff that I have on file.

Hi Phil

I have checked the class copies of boat registrations but there is nothing for 6069. As Crawford has suggested the RYA should have records. Good hunting and please ask for any more help or information that you might need.

Hi Phil,

A lot of Young Albacores were purchased by the RAF, a lot of those boats went onto be bought by the people who sailed them. However as they were owned by the RAF they never got measured. As has been said email the technical department copying Bas Edmonds and Andy Wibroe, they should have the info if it is available. If not i'm afraid it will require a full measurement.

If you require any more information then pm me or post on the forum.

Good Luck

As far as I found out there were five Albs made for the RAF, one of which was ours 6937 and yes we had to have it measured by Phil, including the mast which had never been cut to the correct size. Unfortunately I don't know the numbers of the other four.

Good luck

Barry
