Have recently returned from Dhekelia Cyprus and borrowed 7185 a wooden well sorted boat needing tidying up. I can't find a builders name on her but think she may be a Woof or possibly a Young. Can anyone shed any history on her? I don't think she is ex RAF as the last wooden Akrotiri boats were 69** Expats used to ferry boats out via Ancona - Patras- Limmassol

I think 7185 may be a kingsfield, if I remember rightly it used it be navy blue. It was once owned and sailed by our dear departed friend Martin Cockram from Grimaby & Cleethorpes Yacht Club. The boat has a massive pedigree and has won the nationals as least twice and finished in the top ten probably about another ten times.

Good luck with this boat, you have a lot to live upto :-)

Ah so it is looking at the archives Martin had very good results in the Nationals. The boat is still called Infatuation. I'll relay this info to the present owners Nick and Sheila Staunton of Dhekelia Services SC. It doesn't look like a Kingsfield though?
Thanks for your help.

She is definitely a Kingsfield and not one of ours. First measured in June 1984 according to my old RYA Registry records.

Good Sailing,

Hi Rob,

When are you going to build yourself a boat and come Albacore sailing?

Phil and Rob are both correct.

Just to elaborate on Nationals results she's done 11 Nationals and scored 1,1,2,3,5,5,5,6,8,8,14. There aren't many boats that can beat a record like that!

Previous owners I know about were Stuart Pearson, Martin Cockram, and Charlie Davenport.

That's some kind of pedigree...

Hi
to all old friends and maybe new ones too
I have been watching the site for a while now, with a possible view to re joining the class, this posting from the dim and distant past has provoked a response, as Norman states I was one of the lucky owners of Infatuation, she was indeed a very quick Kingsfield boat, and possibly the fastest Alb I ever had, I sold her a long time ago to someone on the south coast, possibly to Bexhill, and the last I heard she had been written off following a dumping on the beach in big waves, but obviously not, how on earth she ended up in Cyprus I do not know, but after looking at the club website and some pictures of their summer regatta, (looks like a great place for a Euros!!!!!!) I can confirm she is as I sold her, but with a change of paint and sails.
I sold Infatuation at the time because she was one of the boats that would of had her certificate revoked due to the hull shape measurement fiasco, and it would of cost a fortune to put right, but in her day a great boat, and I hope the new owners get as much pleasure from her as all of the previous owners did.

I will be looking for a suitable new ship in the not too distant future as we still have an active fleet here at Thorpe Bay, its wether I join the Ovington crowd or find one of the ever elusive super quick Woofies that still exist.

All the best to you all and hope to meet up soon, cheers for now.

Charles Devenport.

Champagne sailing at its best. Guaranteed wind sun and waves almost without fail during the summer months.
