Anybody got any pointers/recommendations for a supplier of an Albacore cover with deep skirts to stop the hull fading?

One of the Maidenhead boats has a very deep skirted overboom cover (it almost reaches the ground).
I will drop him a line to ask where he got it from.

Most manufacturers will make a deep skirt cover - usually charge extra as more material etc. Look at the Rain & Sun covers. They have a lightweight breathable material called Hydralite that looks pretty good. They say as it is lighter than the conventional breathable materials it dries quicker. My crew has bought one for his Enterprise and it looks very good indeed.

Jean and I went down to Rain and Sun a few years ago and he took a template from Jeans boat with a view to making a deep skirted cover template (which he duly did).

The resulting cover was very good, suitably deep, and fitted perfectly. I'm sure he'll still have his template, but can't comment on the cost!

I have a long deep skirted cover made by Rain and Sun and am very pleased with it.
My hull is black and so is vulnerable to UV fading.
Have a look at this link.

The Albacore with the long over boom cover is mine, at South Cerney.

All the best

Most Manufacturers of covers are happy to add a section along the lower edge if you give them the dimensions. If they can provide the same colour to match... even better.
My local cover maker did a great job and also a big saving on not having to buy a complete new one.

Thanks everyone. Most helpful. I looked at the Rain and Sun site but didn't scroll down far enough. £314 for a cover is pretty steep! I need a complete cover so modifying the old one not an option really

Hi Stewart, definitely rain and sun, Brian at Broadwater has one and certainly a deep skirt, bit of a paint to put on and take off though,

Stewart I suggest talking to them and seeing what they can do. They will almost certainly be making my next cover unless something better comes along. Remember there is no such thing as a good 'cheap' cover. Within reason you get what you pay for and a good cover will protect your boat and save on maintenance in the long run. I learned the hard way years ago with a cheap plastic cover on a restored wooden Merlin. It seemed like a good deal but most certainly wasn't!

Indeed. This is for a FRP boat, so it's just about keeping the sun off really. I have a black wooden Graduate with a conventional depth R&S cover and the paint has never faded.

Do FRP boats need a breathable cover?

Got mine from Sail Register last year.
