Does any one fancy doing some proper sea sailing? Sat 11th July
The Nore Race is a 16 mile race out into the mouth of the Thames Estuary. The start is off the end of Southend Pier and the coarse takes us out along the northern shore Foulness island then across the shipping lane to the Kent shore and the isle of Sheppy past the second World War II wreck the Richard Montgomorry around the Nore sands and then back to the pier head. Its a great day out on the water.
The race normally attracts about 160 entries of which 70 are Dinghies (of all types) There is a trophy for Albacores although it has not been contested in recent times. There are a number of yacht clubs along the foreshore who welcome visiting yachtsmen launch facilities. I will probably launch off the beach at Leigh on Sea
