The Nottingham SC Open Meeting will be on Sunday 13th September, 3 races starting at 11 am, best two to count. There will be bacon rolls etc on arrival, lunch will be provided, prizes tend to be the liquid kind. There will be no other racing so a number of competent crews will be available should anybody need one. Let me know if you need fixing up.
Visitors are welcome to come on Saturday and race as visitors in the afternoon, camping space is available in the Club grounds or straight across the road, hotels and B & B's nearby.
The Club is on the south bank of the River Trent, just west of Nottingham and is easily reached from any direction. A slipway and fixed landing stages allow for dry launching and recovery, though some visitors do keep us entertained by wading down the slipway into the river. We sail on a mile long stretch of the Trent with a 90 degree bend in the middle that allows racing in more or less any wind direction. Spectators on the bank get a great view of the racing from only a few yards away.
This is our 60th year and we are hoping for a good turnout.
All the best
Steve

Nice to see some people read these things properly - as John quite rightly points out the Club is in fact east of Notts, not west!
Cheers

A full report and photos to follow, a brief summary for now:
5 visiting boats and 5 home boats battled it out in a very light breeze. First on the water overall were Judy and Paul Armstrong in their brand new boat, but as it has not been fully measured yet they settled for drinkable prizes rather than the trophy.
True winners were Matt and Emma Metcalfe-Smith, going well in the conditions.
2nd Tim Coleman and Jo Sankey (also first home boat)
3rd Mike Mac and last minute local crew Marie Marshall
Thanks again to our visitors and everyone involved, the very respectable turn-out has ensured that we shall have our open again next year - fingers crossed for a bit more breeze.
