First season owner of an aged Albacore... wonderful sailing but my bailers leak , among other jobs I would like / need to do this winter... I am planning ahead - is it an amateurs job to replace these? Is there a helpful Albacore maintainance guide any where... etc etc.

Thanks

You can get replacement gaskets for bailers - much cheaper than replacing the whole lot!
Lots on this page for example P&B Self Bailers
but shop around and try e-bay traders.

My bailers were leaking badly this year too _ Does any one know if the replacement seals Can be fitted with the bailers in situ - or does the whole fitting need to come out of the hull. I was hoping not to take the bailers out of the hull as the screw heads are nicely faired in

Any advise?

Richard it depends on the type of bailers you have fitted. Suggest measuring them to identify the size /type you have. Mine just unclip and new seals can be fitted before carefully re-fitting the bailer into the housing. Not as easy as it sounds as the replacement seals seem too thick and need to be carefully compressed as the bailer is eased back into place. Good luck
