Hi everyone. We have just bought 8209 which is now called ALBIE. Just wanted to say hello and introduce Crew ALBIE.
My name is Mark Wiltshire but most of my sailing life I have been called, New Boy which seems appropriate so happy to be called that. I have been sailing a single handed British Moth for 9 years and have very little experience in double handed sail boats. I have never sailed or crewed in an Albacore so have lots to learn. The only time I raced a double hander was at the end of my RYA course and it did not end well. Olga Oslanikova is the other half of team ALBIE and some of you may have already met her. Olga is relatively new to sailing but has crewed in a few Albacores and convinced me they are the best boat ever.
Our plan is to sail at as many open meetings as we can. We are hoping to launch her on the 21st of August at SCSC as before that we are sailing British Moths at the Nationals and have no time. After our launch day we intend to get some training in by entering the 40 mile around the Isle of Sheppey race. We would love some company if anyone is up for it. That preperation we hope will get us ready for our 1st open at West Kirby.
All a bit ambitious but should be fun.
We are not expecting great results but hope to learn from others and get faster as we spend more time in her.
Looking forward to meeting the travellers in the fleet.
Mark and Olga
