Hi Folks.

I am in the process of rejuvenating the rigging on Wooden Tops (7424) and wondered what sort of pulley ratios are best for each rigging function.

For example, I studied the photos I took of the display boat at the Dinghy Show and worked out the ratio on the shroud tensioning line appears to be 10:1.
The ratio currently employed on Wooden Tops is 32:1.
Is that excessive?

Simon.

32:1 or 48:1 on the shrouds is usual.
If you then go for 16:1 or 24:1 on the jib you will be adjusting about the same amount of string on each control when you change the mast rake.
16:1 on the kicker is usual.
The boat at the dinghy show was an old fairey hull, too much shroud tension would not be good.
