Have you seen the metcheck forecast?
294 Mph winds!

Windguru is forecasting around 2mph so I think it will be somewhere between the two

Social Event
Joe Taylor is the grandson of members John and Sylvia Duff and he is currently trying to raise funds for a charitable trip to Kenya in November where he will be giving his time teaching in local schools, helping with community projects and coaching football in the evenings.
Joe is just 16 and has been raising money by doing car boot sales, quizzes and meals and will be running the Great South Run to raise funds through sponsorship – so far he’s raised just over £1500 and needs £2000 to go on the trip! Of this money, over £800 will go to the Saints Foundation to help less fortunate people, and to develop community projects in the Southampton area.
This trip is organised by Kenyan Adventure and the Saints Foundation, and to find out more about this joint venture go to www.kenyanadventure.com/saints.html
To support Joe’s effort and a good cause, the HRSC will be hosting a ‘Bangers and Mash’ night on SATURDAY 11th JUNE 7pm- at only £6.50 a head (U12s £3.50) plus a raffle, its a bargain!
Menu – Bangers, Mash, Peas Beans and delicious Onion Gravy.

XC Weather seems to have a more reasonable forecast but no doubt by Saturday it will all have changed. I don't think 294mph is credible and as for 2mph we will need towing out and back in!

What is parking like at HRSC - I guess it may be limited?

Hi everyone,
Sailing Instructions are now on the club website, this link will take you to them

www.hambleriversc.org.uk/news/28113

From 0830 we will have bacon and egg butties available to comfort you whilst rigging.
There will also be a limited amount of sandwhiches etc for lunch. And I say limited as it is hard to guage the expectant numbers.
Following racing tea and cake will be available and there will be the charity social event as shown on the website. Tickets for this will be available at registration from 0830 on Saturday morning.
Looking forward to seeing you.

Directions to the club are also on the website. And when you reach Hamble Sqaure, in the very RH corner there is a narrow entrance to the High Street. This is between the red brick cottage on the right and the white washed line of cottages on the left.
Follow the cobbled High Street down then turn roght at the bottom and you will see the dinghy park in 100 metres on the right.
You should be greeted there by the Beachmasters.

Andy,
On arrival the beachmaster will give you directions. If it looks like a good entry we will open up what is known as the Donkey derby field. We can only do this ion a limited number of times a year so we have to ration it to events where parking is at a premium. For example in the Big boat Winter serires we have in excess of 200 boats plus crews so we have to cater for them.
Parking will not be a problem although you may have to walk a couple of hundred metres.

Trying to get my head round your directions.
Does this take you onto The Quay which appears to be a one way road?

Yes it does. The High Street is ONE WAY and that is down towards the quay. So let me try this again;
M27 Junction 8 then up to large roundabout with a very large Tesco store perched on the West side.
Follow the signs and road markings for Hamble B3397. Hamble is now 3 miles SW of this point.
Carry straight on in a south westerly direction and as the suburbia ends you will find your self out in farmland. You will come to a roundabout with local road to Netley Abbey, before crossing the railway and Hamble station, which is some way out of the town proper. The road then gently bends round to head eastward to enter Hamble itself, before coming to a fairly inconspicuous stop in the High Street.
There is a Coop to your right, next to that is a hairdressers then the brick house that I mentioned previously. That is where the High Street is. Go down that bearing left towards the bottom then right as you see the water and the slip infront of you. Drive along the shore road for 60 metres or so and as the road turns to the right to go up the hill, pull up on the left hand side beacuse you have arrived.
Any problems call me on 07787 552282

Friday Night Arrival
There should beplenty of activity on Friday night, we have Cadet Sailing and there may be some Foxers out. You can always get your boat in under the barrier ~ you have to take your mast off though.
Give me a call, I am never far away and we can introduce you to the delights of Hamble.

Thanks to Dermot and all the other guys at HRSC involved in organising the event.

Awesome sailing yesterday despite breaking my crew on the last lap of the second race, unfortunately no racing today due to the weather. Well done John and Paul for a consistent performance of two seconds seeling the victory.

It was nice to see everyone on the water, roll on Llandudno and see you there if not before.

Hugh :)

Yes white knuckle racing in the river today dodging the moored yachts and those heading back to their moorings.

We will get a full set of results up shortly, top 5 were:

1) John & Paul Gimson (2),2,1
2) Nev Herb & Mark Fowler 1,(DNF),2
3) John W. & Ian Stone (5),1,3
4) Mike Mac & Flip Foulds 3,3,(4)
5) Matthew & Ellie Thompson 6,4,(DNC)

Thanks to Dom and team at HRSC, hopefully this will be regular event.
