Great racing, a big thanks to Dermod & his team.

Just a shame we had a Further 2 critical capsizes... note to self... must stop doing this.

Very sorry I was unable to come to support the event - on the other hand the racing seems a bit too exciting for me!

Interesting that this was shared with the Firefly class - has anyone ever explored sharing a National Champs event with the Firefly's (weekend or week)?
The Alb's little brother/ancestor would be a good 'partner', and may even pick up some more interest in the class from people wanting something bigger but not too dissimilar.

Thanks to everyone who came south to Hamble. It was great to see the Albacores and Firflies out together and to be sailing past Hamble Point where they were both conceived many years ago.

Thank you all for the nice comments, we aim to please and provide you with good racing. I think we achieved that even if the river race was a bit of a shock for some. It was however the sensible thing to do in the face of worsening conditions.

We look forward to having you back next year with the Fireflies. The point about a dual nataionals is an ineteresting one. However we we ran them three of four years ago we had over seventy entries. Put fifty albs on to that and I think we would be over stretched. Hayling Island could manage it as they can cater for large numbers. They have something like 120 Flying Fifteens entered for their worlds this year.

I post a write up about the event in the next day or so

I have posted the report on the Yachts and Yachting web site and they have added some nice photos courtesey of Eddie Mays Photography. All helps to promote the Albacore class.
And for thos of you who sailed from both Albacores and Firflys, people are still talking about the fantastic spectacle of you racing up the river, line abreast. Great stuff.
