There's a public campsite right by the club but book early!
And the week before is their Pyefleet Week which is an excellent event if you want to make it a proper holiday.

Brightlingsea SC website doesn't have current details for the championship.

Is there an electronic way of sending the entry form?

I guess I am one of only a handful of local association members for whom this event is in their home county so I thought I should write something to encourage others to attend.

There are many comments regarding what great sailing and how well the events are run at Brightlingsea. So I add to this commentary concerning some of the other issues.

Brightlingsea is situated in the north east corner of Essex close to the Suffolk Boarder. There is a small leisure and commercial port with a rich heritage. The Sailing Club is situated in Brightlingsea Creek close to the mouth of the Colne Estuary where it meets the Blackwater, Thames Estuaries and The North Sea. The area is the Colne Estuary Nature Reserve and is a conservation area of international importance.

Getting there

Brightlingsea is a quiet rural backwater but is readily accessible from the A12 which is a fast major road.
From the Midlands and the North there is good fast road access via the A1 - A14 - A12.
From the South and West Brightlingsea is only 50 miles from the M25 (J28) access via the A12.

Maidenhead is only (112 miles) Nottingham is only 150 miles.

Accommodation details are available here on the Brightlingsea Club and Harbour website :-

www.brightlingseaharbour.org/
www.sailbrightlingsea.com/about/useful-i...mation/accommodation

The sailing club dinghy park is next to a camp site.

Other attractions

For those wanting to make more out of the championship and take an extended break or who have family members not intending to sail then Brightlingsea and the surrounding area have a lot to offer.

The Local Colchester Oysters are the best in the World - according to me (and Jamie Oliver). The county of Essex has more Islands than any other county in England and Wales, The neighbouring island of Mersea has some lovely
beaches and vast areas of marshland to explore and one of the best fish restaurants in England romantically entitled ‘the shed’.
Brightlingsea is close to the home of English Romantic landscape painter John Constable who is known principally for his landscape paintings of nearby Dedham Vale, the area known as "Constable Country"- along the Essex Suffolk Borders - Much of the countryside villages here remain unchanged and quite beautiful.

The Nearby Seaside towns Clacton and Walton on the Naze offer night life for any party animals with Colchester being close by too. For visitors looking for that urban Essex cultural Mecca as seen on the TV programme TOWIE I am afraid you will be disappointed - being in the wrong corner of the county! - head back down the A12 to Brentwood.

Hopefully see many of you there

I took a trip across to Brightlingsea today
Glorious late afternoon sunshine and F4 breeze - See picture
Apparently the weather is always like this!
The Campsite is next to the club so I suspect it is possible to crawl on fours back via the Dinghy park
The club were very welcoming - If any one is thinking of coming but do not have a crew then with a bit of notice the club might be able to find a local sailor.
Travelling there is easy for those coming from the Midlands or the North the A14 - A12- A120 is dual carriageway nearly all the way with only the last 6 miles on low speed roads
For those traveling from the M25 I would tend avoid going through Colchester and may be a few miles further but go past up to the A120
